Absztrakt Laura Habes Tashman: Nők szerepe a dél-levantei térségben a hellénisztikus-római korban c. doktori disszertációjához Disszertációm célja, hogy bemutassa és korabeli forrásokkal alátámassza, hogy a nők milyen fontos szerepet játszottak a dél-levantei térségben a hellénisztikus-római korban. Kutatásaim során megvizsgáltam a nők szerepét a társadalmi és politikai életben és a vallásgyakorlatban. Az általam felvetett kérdések közül a legfontosabbak: Hihetünk-e olyan sztereotípiáknak, hogy a nők csak házimunkát végeztek a korban? Életük során mindig betartották a férfi családtagjaik által meghatározott normákat és korlátozásokat? Volt-e hatásuk a közösségeikre, és különösen, részt vettek-e közösségük vallási életében? Vannak-e olyan nők, akiknek a nevét a megőrizték a történeti források, esetleg válhattak-e vezetőkké? Kutatásaim során a klasszikus auctorok szövegei mellett a helyi források összegyűjtése és angol nyelvre fordítása volt a fő feladatom. Az írott források mellett a tárgyi emlékeket is vizsgáltam. A vizsgált csoportok, népek és vallások közül kiemelten foglalkoztam a zsidóság, Palmyra, Nabatea asszonyaival, illetve az újszövetségi nőalakokkal. Az egyes fejezetek elején az adott csoportot, népet mutattam be, majd a vonatkozó források alapján a hozzájuk tartozó nők és asszonyokról szerzett ismereteimet foglalom össze. Ahol azonosítható, sorra veszem a nők által betöltött társadalmi, politikai és vallási szerepköröket, ha ismerünk konkrét személyeket, bemutatom őket. Ezzel a módszerrel az egyes kultúrákhoz kapcsolódóan megtudhatjuk, hogy milyen szerepet töltöttek be a nők a társadalomban. Az általam vizsgált (és több esetben elsőként angol nyelvre fordított) források alapján bebizonyosodott, hogy a nők szerepe korántsem csak anyai vagy háziasszonyi volt, hanem sokan közülük kiemelkedő szerepet játszottak a dél-levantei térség vallásaiban és történelmében a hellénisztikus-római időszak alatt. A jövőben célom kutatásaim folytatása, illetve disszertációm eredményeinek megjelentetése egy monográfiában, melyben az összes a témához kapcsolódó írásos forrást és tárgyi emléket összegyűjtök, hogy a kutatók és az érdeklődő könnyen megismerhessék e térség ókori történetének ezt a fontos időszakát. ABSTRACT Women’s Presence in the Southern Levant During the Hellenistic-Roman Period This study was designed to demonstrate that women had an important role in the Hellenistic-Roman period in the Southern Levant. One of the most important reasons that motivated me to begin my research is that we have yet to conclude and build a clear and strong picture in one research or book with a scientific foundation and evidence to shed light on the exact role of women in social, political, and religious practices during this era. Is it true that all they performed was home duties and followed the norms and restrictions established by their male family members? Did they have an impact on their communities, and more especially, did they engage in their community’s religious life? Did they play an important role in their communities? Are there notable female figures whose names are remembered in history? I had to prove that the role of women was not just a housewife but they had a prominent role in the Southern Levant During the Hellenistic-Roman Period. Therefore, I collected the sources and literature related to my topic as well as the inscriptions and scripts resulting from several excavations that occurred in the Southern Levant. Also, I included the women of Judea, the women of Nabataea, the women of Palmyra, and the women mentioned in the New Testament to prove what I believe of. I started each chapter by identifying the entities to demonstrate the main features of each entity and then proceeded to reach the point where women were most effective. Also, how they practiced their roles, which I believe that they were fundamental.
