General rules of archiving

The SZTE Repository of Dissertations contains theses written and defended in the predecessor institutions of the University of Szeged (these are not classified under the doctoral schools, but are labelled "Old-type doctoral education"), as well as doctoral theses written and defended here after the establishment of the integrated University of Szeged (1 January 2000). The repository is operated by the SZTE Klebelsberg Library.

According to the decision of the Senate of the University of Szeged, after 2nd April 2010 all dissertations must be uploaded to the repository as part of the PhD procedure. At the same time the Klebelsberg Library is retrospectively digitizing and processing dissertations created before that date.

The usual processing time for documents submitted to the SZTE Repository of Dissertations is 3 working days. If we have to request a correction, the processing time may be longer.

Before you upload your dissertation, please make sure you meet the following criteria:

• The PhD student must have a valid MTMT profile and has to be registered at the doktori.hu website.
• You may upload the PhD dissertation only after it’s been checked for plagiarism.
• The PhD dissertation and it’s attachment containing the full texts of the author’s publications (if necessary) must be uploaded in separate PDF files.

Dissertations archived in the repository are openly available, with the exceptions provided by law.

Dissertations archived in the Repository are made openly available by the SZTE Klebelsberg Library in accordance with Government Decree 33/2007 (III. 7.), § 11, Act CCIV of 2011 on National Higher Education, § 53/A, and the Doctoral Regulations of the University of Szeged. The copyright of the works is governed by Act LXXVI of 1999 and the Intellectual Property Code of the University of Szeged.

Act CCIV of 2011 on National Higher Education provides in its chapter on doctoral training and the doctoral degree award procedure as follows:

• 53/A. §
  (1) The doctoral dissertation and its theses shall be made available for anybody. The disclosure of the doctoral dissertation and its theses may be postponed only until the date on which the patent right is registered. The doctoral schools shall ensure that the doctoral dissertation and its theses are filed and catalogued in an electronic and printed format in the central library of the University and made available for the public.
  (2) The doctoral dissertation and its theses must be made available to anybody in the Repository of Hungarian Scientific Works, issued with an identifier (DOI) in accordance with generally accepted international practice.
  (3) In the case of a doctoral dissertation protected by intellectual property or a patent, if it is requested by the candidate and supported by the assessment committee and approved by the doctoral board, the disclosure of the doctoral dissertation and its theses may be postponed until the date on which the patent right is registered. A doctoral dissertation and its theses containing classified data for reasons of national security shall be made public after the period of classification expires.
